Sales vehicles

Figured I'd jump in this thread as I've been considering using a car as we commute a lot for estimates and jobs. Have had great response to the wrap on our truck and really like some of the examples posted here!!

Very nice looking. If you don't mind, how much did that wrap cost?

Jamin we got a pretty good deal on the wrap as it was a friend who was just starting into the business at the time. It was $1800. The closest quote I had found to that was about $3000. The wrap has now been on the truck for 3 years and is still in great shape. I'd say hands down that the ROI has been well worth it as I'm expecting the wrap to stay on the truck for a long time to come.

Yes it definitely helps spark conversations about what we do. We'll also make sure it is visible on weekends for the vacation home owners who come to our valley that don't necessarily pick up the papers or local phone books etc (parked at a busy market etc.). We operate in a few small towns and it has helped to solidify that we aren't a fly by night operation. In my opinion it is the most cost effective branding we could have done.

We just bought a 2012 VW Beetle Turbo. Looking forward to having a fuel efficient, fun vehicle to run estimates. We are having it wrapped in a week. Pictures to follow! Looking forward to not spending $80.00 day in diesel.

Just wondering what you guys are using? I've been thinking about a Honda Fit for sales and personal use. Do you think not showing up in the stereotypical pickup would matter in a clients eyes? Should i have the website and slogan on it or no lettering? Possibly get it wrapped. My current vehicle is an S10 pickup with no lettering that is getting too beat up to give a good first impression.

We have a Honda Fit and four Toyota Priuss. Guys who think that "the truck sells the job" are reliant on that big truck to affirm the size of their penis. It's absurd. If those are the clientele you're after, fine. For our business, we're after educated consumers that care about details.

From a purely economic standpoint, why on earth would you drive a 15mpg vehicle 100 miles a day in order to deliver proposals? In order to affirm to stereotype of the truck drivin' tree cutter?

What do you like better the Fit or the Prius? I have been looking at both, after driving a F350 around all day is killer on fuel. And I don't think people need to see that truck, they do like to see nice clean well taken care of equipment. I do get a lot of complients on my F350 but that is more just because it is clean and washed all the time. Washing the trucks and equipment can be huge on they way people view the company.

How does the mpg compare to the fit vs. prius?

The fit is cheap and only gets about 10 mpg less then the prius. The prius makes sense if you are doing over 30 k a year otherwise consider the fit.

What he said is probably true. For our business, we view the Prius as a marketing tool. It helps convey more of our philosophy and appeal to some of our target clients.

As far as the driving experience. The Fit is sportier and more fun to drive, but the Prius is more comfortable, and nicer for road trips.

I just bought a fit for around 16 after seriously considering a prius for around 10 K more. We do carry an environmentally conscious message and im hoping the fit meets that at 38mpg. Another consideration is that the rare earth mineral in the prius batteries is mined in some of the most hellish working conditions in china that has little regard for environmental protection. and the fit is a blast to drive!

For us, the sales vehicle is legitimately a work vehicle, too. I use a ford ranger. It's been painted sky blue and has the logos and contact info in simple large letters. A couple times now I've seen people double take as i drive by. I make sure to match their speed so they can have a few extra seconds to jot down the website!

Oh- favorite trick on the freeway: When I see a bentley, maserati, lambo, ferrari, etc...I get in front of them and stay there for a minute. You know they got money!
