safetyblue

Have a safety blue that is new. climbed on the thing maybe 8 times.the cover balls upon myhitch when accending.it has a doublespice eye. /forum/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I used to splice both ends of my 16 strand ropes but I kept having some 'stretch' milk my overlaps apart. I then would have a couple of flat spots in the line. I think the fault to this lay with splicing both ends at the same time when the rope was new. I no longer splice both ends but some friends of mine came up with a system to reduce stretch. They splice one end then wait a few weeks, ensuring that they do a couple full length runouts then they splice the other end.

safety blue is rather stretchy and milks badly without spliced eyes. i used sb for a year and a half and then gave up on it. a coworker used a dbl spl eye sfety blue for about 6 months and he just got over it. i think it is good rope, or at least it used to be, but my last two cuts of safety blue operated very poorly.

Whenever I splice both ends, I only do it for people where they are willing to climb on one splice, then send it back to resplice the other side lader. It works, but is not perfect.
