running several GRCS mounts with one GRCS winch

It just occurred to me that sometimes it might make sense to set up your GRCS in a couple of different places during a job but not needing to use it in more than one place in a given moment.

What comes to mind is having a couple (or more) bases set up on diffent trees nearby and then moving the winch to each one as appropriate.

Is anyone already doing that? If so, how is it working out?

For that matter is it even possible to buy extra mounting bases for the GRCS without buying the whole thing, ie base but no winch?

I could see this as a tremendous benefit if you have a couple of climbers working on separate trees on the jobsite. Certainly it would keep equipment storage concerns down, keep costs down, and save a bunch of time if all you have to do is carry the winch back and forth.

Aren't two slings and two pulleys enough?
When we use the GRCS we always mount a pulley (pulley one) directly over the GRCS. From that point you can lead (if needed through a second pulley) the rope anywhere through a garden/tree. Woking like that I don't really see a point in mounting multiple bases.

Rick,

We own two GRCS and just recently upgraded/replaced the frames independent of the winches and bollards. I dealt directly with Greg on this. He was more than helpful.

We have never had to do what you are describing. Always seems like a job that big/complicated would have a but load of equipment on it anyway. Not a bad idea though. Something to keep in mind.

Tony
