Bustin out concrete from a centuries old Sugar with an electric jackhammer.
It was the most interesting tree preservation job for me to date. Tree is chained up aswell.
There is a thread on it and I did have a video on Youtube, now removed.Lotsa good input from fellow buzzers and other forums.
Concrete was creating a fulcrum at the junction of 3 large leads in this tree, creating detrimental forces to their points of attachments.
I think it was 2 metric tonnes of material removed with bits of rebar.
Happy ending for big ol soldier of a tree, still need to reassess before spring with climbing inspection.
Cheers

Any idea where the RopeArmor is now?

Thomas, very generous offer for a live Skype demo.. Will want to take you up on that latter, though I would want to compensate you in some way. I am on the slower end of my learning curve and want to absorb more info. and techniques on my own first.

Used the RopeArmour for the first time this last month for around 35 trees and it flat out made me money and made the work fun. Just re-watched all your vids and noticed that I missed using the big cone for rope altogether (Ha!). I shot the RA over the crotch I wanted, clove hitched on a 3/8s in. line pulled that back over then fastened a 3/4 in. line to the 3/8 with a short piece of spectra throwline. That stuck so after a few failed attempts at finesse I applied mechanical force (my truck). Broke. Set up again, stuck on tight Sucker crotches again, added electrical tape to smooth transition-broke. Set up a third time, used 2/3rds of a roll of tape-got it over. Next day brought several more rolls of tape. Now, “Oh, thats what that other cone is for!”

Am going to order a second RopeArmour for limb isolations and to keep me going if I were to loose one, and make up some 1/2 in. brass rods to increase weight for selected shots. The questions I have for you at this time are 1) Do you have any weights or any other add ons available for the RA? And 2) What videos or written info. are you aware of that I could use to learn as much as possible about using throwlines and limb isolation techniques as well as any advanced tech.?

Thanks in advance for your time, Merle

To answer your questions is yes I have weights. A few that a bored and taped out and few brass wts. Other add ons is the Fastattach, which I highly recommend.

For the most up to date info/pics and vids go to

I need to make another vid showing another type of exterior quick connect. basically unclamp the coupling bolt from the throwline, maintain line thru the coupling bolt holes and pass the line thru the hole in the SS weight end then attach to rope with pile hitch. Very easy and is my second choice when there are serious obstacles in the way of positioning the rope. Everything is inline nicely.

Try to post something tomorrow.
To transition to big cone usually means I will need to go from throwline to 11mm to the 3//4" and if I anticipate an easy pull I will go throwline directly thru both cones and pile hitch to the 3/4.
Cheers

I have to say it's a great product. Used it last week a bit and was really impressed. The rope sheild over the lowering rope goes threw the X riiging rings like butter! Awsome job man!!

Thanks MattyD for the purchase and giving it a throw!
What was the final key point in your decision to purchase?
Tired of the hang ups?

We have a couple new ideas. 1. adding weight to your RopeKnight.
Heavy guage soldering wire! Lead free, soft and malleable.
Insert into the stainless steel weighted end hole and twist around the body.
Works a treat and it is possible to to get your weight up to 20 oz or more.
The aerodynamics is maintained with the nose weight forward, still very smooth and near frictionless and is a simple inexpensive, clean and unobtrusive adjustment to make.
So if you can't afford multiple throw weights and want the high flying, responsive and predictable smoothness of a Ropeknight with the added benefit of adjusting the weight per requirements of specific trees.
2. RopeKnight duos see attached pic

This ticks all the boxes!
Cheers.

Alot of talk in the last few months about copies and patents etc. Not just the RK but the Portawrap, GRCS etc.

I just like to say Thanks to all who have purchased the RopeArmor and We greatly appreciate all those who support the original Treepedo/RopeArmor.
Thanks All and Happy Sunday.

They're all I'm using now as all my throw bags have worn out. Even over thin skinned camper trailers.

We need a rigging Bolo. Could be launched or thwown like with six golf balls on throwline or amsteel that entangle a limb mid point.

I gott a RopeKnight a couple of months ago and I've got to say it really is as good as Thomas says.
It flies straighter than a bag or Highball but the best thing is that it doesn't get stuck, at all. Ok, mine got stuck once but only because it went over a small branch and then twisted itself around the line. However, it has not been stuck in a fork or simple over a small branch, it's just so slippery.

The revelation for me has been hand throwing. Whether it's something to do with the weight of it or the fact that the solid metal focuses my mind, I've been getting good results with hand throwing.

Brilliant product!
