Rope

So what is everyone climbing on? Just curious ..

You pegged it Notahacker, blaze is my favorite. the fly is good if you can get a tucked splice. (the sewn splice tends to get stuck in tight forks=tired climber throwing a fit!) velocity tended to bunchup below my hitch (they may that fixed by now but i haven't tried it again)

I haven't climbed on blaze, though I use it for my lanyard. It seems to have more of a full braid than the fly, I'd guess it's a great climbing rope.

I have dragon fly (neon green fly rope) and it's sooo nice I don't climb on it much, I don't want to put the wear on it, stupid I know. So I climb on my old piece of bouncy, easily flattened arbor plex that once broke in feels smaller than the 11mm lines.

Peoria and how about you? Yeah I think im going to buy a blaze or the hi-vy who knows, Im climbing on yellow jacket right now and its terrible but im still learning haha so I have try out too much.

Would you say the fly has more bounce than blaze or poison ivy?

I just purchased some Petzl Vector... 11mm static kernmantle. Have used it four or five times now and am really happy thus far. You can feel virtually no bounce/elongation and it stays round and very firm when under load. A great access line and, if you are so inclined works very well as a DRT line, minus the shock absorbtion. The firmness provides what feels to me to be the smoothest and most controlled deccent on a prussik I've encountered (I use 10mm beeline). The only drawbacks are: it tends to twist with DRT; it's stiffness makes knotting and coilling more difficult; and once again, don't count on bounce for shock absorption.

Will you be in Chicago next tuesday and wednesday Mark? haha How about them Red Wings spankin Pheniox .. and I guess I'll give it to the Devil's for beating the maple leafs haha 7-6

I climbed on Blaze and Velocity for two seasons(mostly Blaze) but now I'm back to the 1/2" rope. Arbormaster Blue Streak and New England Hi-Vee. Half inch line feels better in my hands. Personally, I find the 16 strand easier to splice; especially in used rope.
