Rope bridge question (16 strand)

There has been alot of talk about bridges here lately and it's motivated me to replace mine. Not due to wear but it was too long.

I have some arbormaster rope that I just replaced the bluemoon that I had for a bridge on my harness (sequoia).

I had a thought that I'd like to try but want input 1st. Is it acceptable and safe to take the core out and just use the cover for the bridge? We do it for splice's right? It's a cover dependant rope construction, and the core is there just to hold shape, Correct?

So what is every ones thoughts?

If you're gonna use stopper knots don't take the core out, you need the bulk to keep the knot from flattening. I made a bridge with some HiVee that had the core out and if we fiddled with it, we could get every knot we tied through the bow shackle.

I'd be using double fishermans or grapevine (what ever it's called) tied to the gold rings. I'd imagine that the knot wouldnt be any different. Would this be foolish to try?

Nope, I'd try it, use the double fisherman's. The only downside I see is the bulk of the knots taking up bridge range. You can tape or stitch the tails to clean them up a little.

The knots may dress and set nicer with the core out... anybody else got a more informed opinion on that?

Don't use an anchor hitch for that application, I've had'em loosen on me.
