rope boss bags

I also have been putting a large deluxe through it's paces and am quite pleased with it. When I first got it I noticed the ribs, and of course reailised it is not designed to be tossed.

you are amazing!

how did you know that?!

how did you know the ribs were so rigid that they would poke through the material?

amazing....

A bag that can't take a drop needs people like YOU!

That way the company that makes them never needs to even state that. You are brilliant!

I also have been putting a large deluxe through it's paces and am quite pleased with it.I have been using a Black diamond haul bag for many years. When I first got it I noticed the ribs, and of course reailised it is not designed to be tossed. I use a different bag for that. The rope boss line is for storage. To make a bomb proof bag would have much different materials and construction.

like a haul bag....

I am quite perseptive, and am really good at seeing limitations, and acting accordingly, that way my equipment lasts a really long time.

David,

No need to pm here, I'd prefer to keep discussion in the open.

Dropping out of trees was in the initial design discussion and quickly cut from the list. Throwing the product loaded with weight (be it rope or rocks) is simply too unpredictable to warrant the investment in construction and materials. My guess is that, even with your Weaver bag, its only a matter of conditions. Heck, they're struggling with throw weights!

We're planning on releasing a couple very basic bags in the not-too-distant future that will withstand as much and more than anything around but i still doubt we'll be able to assure "drop-able from a tree's crown or crane." Thanks for the heads up and email me for a discounted replacement on your "flight-tested RopeBoss." info@sherrilltree.com

Roxy, Good idea on the folded cube attachment. Will roll that one around.

Tobe

Weaver makes good stuff. Everybody has quality issues now and again, right Tobe?

Gear storage loops on the inside of the bag is a brilliant idea! That guy deserves a free bag.

...And clarifying the differences between the Basic and Deluxe would be nice too, outside of the covers and mesh. I bought the Basic, but would really like the gear loops, inside or out. Nowhere in the catalog or website does it differentiate. I even called to clarify the difference, and they did not say squat about gear loops. I specifically asked... "So the only difference is the top and the mesh?" and the CSR said "Yes." Now I see the ad on the right with the gear loops, and I'm like "Wha?"

catalog i have shows the difference between the deluxe and basic, i will be ordering the deluxe soon (hopefully)

wow.... okay.

I guess it's because I have never owned a rope bag that wasn't meant to take a drop. I hadn't had experience with that.

Hmmm, I appreciate the offer...

Let me think a bit.

I'm thinking maybe I'll mail back the 5 bags that haven't been taken out of their plastic yet. I only put two into service; I kinda think it's fair I should stick with them, maybe I'll pull the ribs out and replace with something more flexible, or take the coil springs from worn out weavers and add them to the bag somehow. when will i have the time though?..... maybe never.

let me think.....

thank you for the response, and sorry for my ignorance, I just thought all rope bags were meant to be dropped.

Nothing ignorant about that Dave. I found out the same way you did. You just don't know how much something will take until you push it. I still might throw mine.

They are nice on the outside at the jobsite dont get me wrong but when it comes to the bag sitting in the truck I would put everything on the inside loops instead...it just keeps everything contained

Well I don't know how else one gets fabric to stand up on its own, so that could be the trade off for not having the bag collapse on itself when you flake line back in. Sails have battens and that's what the bags have, makes sense. If you throw the bag and have to replace the support I'm sure a local boat shop has got your thing...
I would love a pocket on the outside for a cube because I don't like to squish the cube edges and I don't like it when the cube shifts around and messes the lines. We're talking major gear Evolution here!

Weaver has a coil spring that is the entire bag shape. that's how.

Yeah but it doesn't hold up. The coil pokes through the bottom really quickly. I haven't even had mine a month. Great idea just needs a little reinforcement in the bottom.

Ive been using the bashin rope bag for years ,it has comparments for 3 throwline cubes and i can fit 2 150' ropes in it.I wouldnt recommend dropping it from a crane, probably brake.
