Root Remediation

In the 2 pics those did not look too far gone. Simple to prune, bad to leave. prognosis sux if you just leave them girdled. bad time of year now; can you get back in septenmber to finish sgrs?

did you do any deep aeration beyond the rootball? make holes and jam the roots in, aka redirection.

Sawzall huh; several people like them; not for me. I like loppers.

Once you get into 3-4" and bigger stuff, sure. More so with construction trenching. Either I make a clean cut on it, or leave it for the excavator to tear back to the trunk. Lesser of 2 evils sort of thing.

Frax, do you guys have an example of sgr's that were not pruned due to size? Maybe JeffL'll have some ideas...o and that post oak downtown finally got pruned; fyi
