Rigging plate side load?

Ok I think this may have been discussed but I just want to confirm that is ok. My girlfriend is climbing on my old glide lite and the bridge is going to get replaced I want to use a rope bridge and not the warpspeed one. Can I just pull the rope through the rings and put a rigging plate between the ring and a scaffold knot and run it like that? I am trying to avoid tying directly to the rings creating a bulky knot on them. This would be along the same lines as when using a ring friction saver on srt and adding a plate and butterfly would it not? I want to be sure there is no liss of strength and that I am not technically sideloading the plate possibly leading to strength loss.

If I understand you, and the bridge is slack, the plates might flop around a bit.

I used to climb on a cougar, which uses 2 small ISC arborist rings for the bridge/waist loop/leg loop attachment points. I ran a piece of Tachyon through them with double overhands for stoppers, just like the TreeMOTION bridge. I felt totally safe with the size of the small rings and all the additional webbing filling up the inner diameter.

Could you use a 1/2" line for a rope bridge stopped up against small rings instead of rigging plates?

Ideally, I'd try to find a way to do it without added (loose) hardware, making sure that there's zero chance the knots will pass through the eyes.

Yeah you are right on in my thinking. I dont like the loose harware either but I want to be absolutely sure that the knots will not go through the rings. I will check into the half inch line and see what it looks like. Another concern looking at it now is wear on the webbing due to a moving plate rubbing it.

I want to be able to adjust the length on it and I can use something that I can see the wear on. I am a big fan of 16 strand bridges.

Cant you just replace the Glide lite rings with CT rigging plates. I ahve a GLide and the switch was exactly the same as when I did it to my Cougar. You can see it in this video:

Glide Lite Liger Mod w/ CT Rigging Plates:

Not the feature of the video but you can clearly see the liger mod.

I don't want to get rid of the strap that connects the ring to the leg loops. My only other option may be to cut the rings off an use a shackle like the ones on a butterfly2 I might get away with that or try doing just as Eric said. I will have some time this weekend to try it out and see I just thought the rigging plates would be simple and easy was all.

Maybe you could get a couple non intrusive elastic bands to hold the rigging plates in place.

I know, the whole thing is less than ideal, but it's the general foundation of many saddles from different manufacturers. The only part I don't like is the loose piece floating around...metal on metal...

I'm sure you'll figure out something that's safe.
