Releasable Trunk Anchor

The only issues I see could all be overcome with patience and diligence.

- Length adjustment may be slower than a moveable Prusik.
- Relatively tight bend radius over ring (...not REALLY so much an issue with 10mm cordage which is stationary over the bend, but still a consideration).
- Steel ring may be heavy enough to pull the cinch open when the system is unweighted.

Are you running a DdRT system through the small ring only, or using it as a cinching SRT Knot Block system?
Using as a SRT KNOT BLOCK SYSTEM

That is my question.
Is there some issue I am not aware of?
Not of safety, one could argue functionality.
I used something similar for a while, you can see a thread on here called Apex Anchor. Oceans, a prussik can only be used with a stopper knot, the nature of the loading wants to elongate the choked length. The choke is firm enough to bed into bark pretty well, which, combined with the (potentially) long retrieve leg, makes for some close calls, sweaty brows and sometimes the need to re-ascend. I have found nothing better than the pulley saver for anchoring. Knot or stitch up a loop with a couple of 28mm rings, everything your anchor does but more fluid. I can honestly say I have never got my pulley saver stuck. Honest !

Retreval snap not used, basal anchor left in place after release of access line, recovery is after descent when removing climbing system.
There are enough ways to achieve that, but I don't want to assume anything. Could you clarify this a bit further?

You only climb large trees? You never have a tree to work on with one or a few target limbs? You waste the time to climb all the way to your tie in point to switch over to a canopy anchor? You never climb young trees with just two lanyards? You don't ever use a high tie in to remove an adjacent dead tree? You just do arboricultre in the movies? Quit over thinking shit and just work dude!

I'm workin I'm workin, gimme a break.
2 weeks of 30M larch removals and I found that my customised pulley saver works well for a retrievable trunk anchor, I changed the pinto for two 28mm rings for knot blocking. Didn't drop anything close to the trunk on the way up to changeover, instant stuck rope otherwise.

I like Mac's pinto idea. I tried it recently and it was smooth. To make it retrievable, would a pinto on a biner or pear link connected to an Alpine butterfly in the base tie work?

sSo we are talking canopy anchor now? I'm confused
Replying for him, SBH had his "wires crossed" when he posted that photo. I'm quite certain that's his canopy anchor in the photo.

Either way, he's pretty much a genius and a fantastic climber to boot. I'll just hang back until he can chime in and set it all straight.

What is the double ring for? Just better bend radius for smoother retrieval?
Hello Mike, the two ring loop was my attempt to gather together a bunch of different canopy anchors into one system, there are sooooo many different things that you can do with it, from useful to ridiculous. Just think of it like a ring and ring ... but choked via the pulley saver so you can rig the rings together or individually. It is what I have so is what I used for the past couple of weeks, just turned it upside down for access in.

ahem....
Eric, my second Bone arrives in a matter of hours, I'm really itching to give your SDdRT or STRT or (WHaTEVer) a whizz with your helicopter belay system. The 8mm TRT has gone into storage for now. My new years mantra is one that inspired us all to climb SRT in the first place.......Clean and Beautiful. Thanks for the inspiration !
