red cross classes?

If and when you guys do the first aid / cpr classes for your guys... how do you do it? Do you send the guys to a red cross class, or do you have them come to you? I was just looking on their website and it's $110 per person for the basic class cpr / first aid. Not bad for 1 or 2 people. I would assume however that, that is for individuals, and not for businesses.

What do you guys pay, and how do you work it out?

It's the same here, Red Cross, $75 per head for CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and $35 for Standard First Aid... total of 14-1/2 hours of training.

It is a good idea. In some countries it is the law for tree workers.

I would do the training off site. In this way, it's like a field trip for the guys and they will be more attentive, which will lead to better retention. If you leave the office for training, you can focus better, you leave distractions behind. (eg. ringing phones, scheduling, broken saws that need fixing, etc.) As far as cost goes, I think it is the same everywhere.

I am actually a certified instructor for our company. We are a large company and it was easier for us to send a few people to get certified by the Red Cross to instruct CPR/First Aid. During the winter we go around to the districts and teach the CPR/First Aid to certify our employees. Well worth becoming an instructor if you are able.
