My new job requires toe protection. Anyone have experience with good climbing boots that have toe protection? Thanks!

As far as logger style boots, you can do no better than hoffmans. Carolina make a pair of line mans boots that are pretty durable. Don't know about a pruning boot with toe cap

You got me logic, but I have looked at those boots before. I am gonna invest in a pair of pruning boots next. Give the loggers a break. I have the pfanner zermats, or whatever they're called. I like them a lot for removals and ground work, tend to tear up bark on prunes though.

I've looked at the Carolina's and think they are good value for the money. No experience with them but, I'm looking to switch from Red Wing. I've gone through my second pair and don't feel they're worth the money. $300+ and the sole becomes extremely uncomfortable after about a yr and a half. I think my very first pair were Hoffmans. Lasted about 10 yrs of intermittent use. I liked the rigidity of the sole for working on spikes. I'd suggest a hiker style as a second boot for pruning. They tend to be more agile and less damaging to bark. Those can be had with steel toes as well.

I feel sorry for you no one could make me wear steel toes ever...hate them with a passion....Salewas all the way even if I am in spurs all day....lol

I had a pair of rubber miner's boots. Got them at Goodwill for $10. They had a doubly reinforced toe that I could roll some pretty big logs over them without a care. All my work boots have steel toes. Having gone through one type of injury to my toes, I value them too much to risk another.

i have wide feet and worked in the Vibergs Viberg 148SX CSA for many years and like them alot.
Last two years on Scafell Green Chainsaw Trekker Class 1 and found them to be just great in the tree on the ground in the cold in the heat only complaint is they are bit low cut for saw chip entry not a biggie any ways.
Boots have to be tried, every one is diff just try to get as close to what you want and hope for the best and make them work for you.
Cheers

Nah I know Logic, I bombed this thread as it was late....I love Salewas, steel toes hurt the edges of my toes as my feet are broad....I do have my eye on a pair of chainsaw boots by Andrew at Honey Brothers UK....http://honeybros.com/Item/Cervino_Wood_Chainsaw_Boots. look like the toe box has space...but I do find that my Salewas are comfy even in spurs all day.....
My problem with the steelies is my feet get stuck in crotches and they're so dadgum cold in the winter!
