Rebuilding Notre Dame's Roof Trusses

Came across this story today about the trees used in the reconstruction efforts for Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, France. It's quite amazing - each roof truss weighs 3 tons and they are being hand hewn out of massive oak trees harvested in France.
There is some video on YouTube also which details the carpenters work using this wood. A massive job done using hand tools - near the end of the video: https:// www.youtube.com/watch?v=jF85dBHwyBw

Outstanding !
Thanks for posting.

I believe that the article associated with the picture of the oaks, states that many years ago the oak saplings were purposely planted among mature Beech trees, in order to force the Oaks to grow long and straight to reach for the sunlight. this was back when they were being groomed for the French navy for the construction of large ships.
