Re-thinking the need for a pulley saver or friction-less tie in point.

How many make the ascent SRT then work down DdRT?

The guy I was referring to had supposedly contacted Rock Thompson (of Rock Exotica) about manufacturing an arboriculture industry-specific version. He was hoping the same thing - for one of the bigger manufacturers to build a rated device. Like I said, that was a handful of years ago. This whole thing's kinda making me think he was ahead of his time.

Yes, thats what I think as well.
I wish there was a Pinto or even better an ART Cocoon Pulley with a one way sheave (thats what Rock Exotica calls it on their unfortunately not longer manufactured Omni Block 2" with it), I even contacted ART with this idea some time ago but with no reply.
Maybe DMM jumps in when they read it.
Its so cool that there is still so much room for innovation in this industry, for me it seems quite endless...

Btw, I am personally back on a Ring-Ring Saver (or kind of a Thimble Saver) for the last 1,5 years know, and love it.
The RE pulley mentioned above is way to big for every day use, in terms of retrieval.

I've often thought it would be cool to replace the pinto on my pulley saver with an x-ring, just to give it that little bit of bicep/elbow-saving friction. Too bad they aren't designed for life support.
They are totally life rated. I use this one all the time it's a bit different from the one they sell but works amazing. It has def saved a few hitch cords or at least added a little life to them.

This would make it fairly easy to put together a one way pulley http://www.mcmaster.com/#standard-ball-and-roller-bearings/=10wsbgb

Made this a little while back. It works well but the problem is the small ring ($20 one) is too small to pass a spliced eye, so you have to pull all of your rope through to get to your spliced end. Retrieval is the same. I don't have any worries about the x-ring coming loose. It works very well besides the size of the ring. Maybe the $30 ring would work better but may have retrieval issues, not sure.

Use a pensafe ring huge and passes anything. Cheap as well

The rigging thimble number 1 will let the spliced eye of Cougar, Luna, Arbormaster all slip right through pretty easily. Even takes 1/2" stable braid splice with a bit of maneuvering.

Magnum - what ropes aren't passing through there for ya?

I had an abormaster line that wouldn't pass. I guess it would come quite close just wouldn't let the part with the heat shrink go through so I went with the bigger thimble. Prob would pass with a little tug just didn't want to have pull any harder Than what I do with the #2.
