I chipped up a blue spruce into my 1/2 ton truck and now there's DRIED sap spots all over the truck? What would take them out well?

I've tried, gas, turtle wax, hand sanitizer windshield washer fluid....any other suggestions?

Thanks,
Ken

"In case paint comes off" yikes! And there's way too many spots to freeze them...I chipped the spruce it's more like a spray of spruce droplets...thousands! Ice cubes won't work...guess I just keep experimenting...

I use GoJo mechanics hand cleaner in the washing machine to get all manners of sap from ficus to cedar out of my work clothes.

Dude trust me, try the mineral spirits and acetone. Your paint will probably be fine. Just covering my a$$ with the test area. You should lay a coat of wax over the spots when you're done.

Although, if you're that worried about the paint, maybe it's not a tree truck

You are in Ontario. The whole province will be an ice cube in a few months!

"Contractors solvent" its all natural; made from oranges I believe so hence orange in color. Cost about $30 a gallon but makes quick work of cleaning the shop floor, grease spots, oil spots ect... removes things that brake cleaner won't. They sent barges down to the gulf in the bp oil spill. Been told by a distributor that 160 pound man can drink 8 ounces without getting sick. Who do you think was guinnea pig for that one? Oops...sorry guy 9 must be too much.

This topic has come up many times before but about getting conifer sap off of ropes/gear.

The conclusion:

Citrus solvents
Simply Green

Or...the cheapest...any veggie oil...olive, corn, canola.

To get sap off your hands try peanut butter. It sticks to your hands a little better than liquid oils.

You'll be stunned how easy sap comes off.

Crunchy or smooth?

Your going to want a clay bar. Any auto parts store will have them. Takes all contaminants from the paint. Be aware you will need to wax the truck afterwards, to replace the protective coating. This will also help in the future.

I would not use anything mentioned above on paint, no no.

I went through this when i first chipped white pine into my truck. Hood and roof felt like sand paper. The sap actually eats small spots into the paint, fyi. Clay bar pulled them right off.

This info comes from a clean truck fanatic. Everyone thinks the trucks are brand new, all three older than 2000 with original paint. Take it or leave it.

Anonymity,
Sorry man, I didn't realize you were talking about the exterior paint job having sap all over. I thought you meant the bed or box. I'd definitely be more careful in that case. Let us know what works for ya. Good luck.

Thanks for all the feedback everyone... (clay bar) I've heard of that. I'll look into it, thanks. Bixler, you must be kidding...I drive a hotrod not a hotdog lol...this question may have been asked before, but thanks nevertheless for the info...
