When treating with Tree-age on a smaller diameter tree (14 in), I found it hard to keep air out of the line because such a small amount of the chemical is needed for the treatment. I know adding water can help, but if you add water, you dilute how much product is being put in each plug. Does this matter, or is the main idea just to make sure the recommended dose is applied to the entire tree regardless if water is added?

No problem adding water. A 50\50 mix is common and the dilution isn't an issue. (trees like water)

You can screw the quick jet directly onto the tree-age bottle itself. That way you can have the second cap open and bleed the lines right back into the product bottle. Just an option.
