IMO, VERY much worth mention. I have always said this but I think the association and commonality between rocks and trees has about as much in common as the gear and techniques used in climbing them.Prob also worth mentioning that tree rope and rock/cave/rescue rope are very different and some knots work better on different types of rope.
NopeDo you ever have an issue with the base anchor creeping up the trunk when weight is loaded unloaded?
Sweet, I really like the simplicity of this basal anchorNope
I personally will attest that a figure of 8 knot can come undone! it requires a stopper knot around the rope above the knot and even then it must visually be checked on a periodic basis.I don't mean to derail.
I don't know about the security of a 2 rope figure-8 bend.
However, I personally know 3 people that have had figure-8 stopper knots on the tail of a single line, roll out.
Two were expert tree climbers that I know & respect (IL & WI); one was a rock climber (unknown quality; i.e. I don't know if this one was properly tightened).
My go to stopper knot has been a double-over-hand for several years.
(Tie, dress, and tighten the heck out of it !)
95% of the figure-8's that I've seen climbers use, could fall out with a couple of wiggles because it wasn't tightened ! ! !
