Question about ISA

This is a quick question about joining ISA. My Dad is thinking of making me a member of ISA, and I decided to look on their site, and I don't know what catorgery I would fall under, or if I could even join. Any ideas on this?? Thanks

If you can register as a student that would be a good option.
I checked the membership page and it looks like you need to be enrolled in college and have classes in a related field.
You may need to join as a professional member if you are not in college yet.

Are you a member of you local chapter?

The I.S.A. being a money pit can be true. However, the I.S.A. does act as a hub to gather and exchange current information and practices in tree care for their members. One needs to use it to make their investment in the I.S.A. work for them.

It is a choice and I will state I'm a better arborist by sticking with them.

I am a member, but I still think its a money pit, joke! Its great for those states who have no other organization. We have the MAA here in MA. The Grandfather to the NAA, TCIA, and ISA.

X2. I get a high rate of return on my investment in due$ etc.

Also true about student membership--take some classes and get in cheap!

very few states have credible cert programs. Look what happened in MD.

Sure they do, in a random manner, with lots of other crap mixed in with the info, so it is hard to tell what is what. ISA material goes through several reviews so it is more reliable.

That's fine by me. I'll sift through the "crap" to get to the free info.

OTG, the cert law got gutted so every hack in MD can call themselves cert. I forgot the details; very ugly.

Like every other professional association it is up to the members to make it valuable. It's real value is for prospective clients who feel more comfortable knowing the person they're dealing with demonstrate a commitment to their work.
