pushing the limits

BTW, Daniel, I think your strong points are likely good felling. Some of that stuff looks good.

Sorry X,
its over your head, and that goes for everyone that thinks my work is in any way wreckless or dangerous... everything I said here is true.. I don't talk crap... if you don't believe or understand it or think it's impossible, its because of the limitations in your mind. Your mind isn't broad enough to recognize the possabilities. I may not be the most athletic climber, but no one around here is cuting trees like me. NO ONE..

I'm not calling you an idiot or anything else, I'm not trying to diss you, just stating facts as I see'em.

It's not over ANYONE'S head Daniel. You're demonstrating simple stuff and taking shortcuts that pros generally don't take... if for no other reason than it leads to bad habits.

You're getting the job done, nothing wrong with that, everybody goes home with all their parts attached, customer is happy, all good.

But, I don't see how this clip has anything to do with pushing limits. I don't see anything exceptional or that demonstrates mastery of anything. I DO see a lot of skid steer action which isn't well tolerated on high end properties. The work looks good to me, but it's everyday stuff, not edge of the envelope.

I'm sure you think I just don't understand but I do, so do most of these other guys. Like I said before, take one of those big tulips or ashes and put the whole thing sequentially into a 12'x12' drop zone and then you've got something you can brag about.

I'm not saying don't post videos either, I like videos, keep'em coming.

Honest, I'm not looking for an argument. I just thought X made a first class, sincere, well meaning post without getting personal. X knows his stuff and for Daniel to say it's over his head is ludicrous. To say that anything in that video demonstrates a particular mastery is gross over statement.

I'm not anti-Daniel, I don't want him banned or to shut up, actually, I want to like him. I think he's a sincere guy and that goes a long way in my book. I have a tough time with out of control egos though.

I made over $150 man/hour last week, pulling a 60º backleaning norway maple back over a creek, on a competitive bid.. I do $100 man/hour and beat Ricks prices.

You talk $ht , but don't know it.. I AM looking forward to meeting you to see if you have the balls to call me a low balling scumbag hack to my face.. C'mon pal... let's get together...

[/ QUOTE ]

LMAO, This is what I'm talking about. I don't have to call you a low ballin scumbag, fact I don't think I even said that about you. Might or referred to you as a smash and grab guy. You tend to fit this group well. I believe you just called yourself one. I see your prices do show you are on the lower end of the scale. Most guys I work for tend to get about $50 to $125 more than you per hour. This in turn forces you to put down the big peices, use skidders to pull whole tops, and break some stuff.

I know what I can and can't get away with.. you should have seen the beating that hickory took on that big dead oak in the front yard..

[/ QUOTE ]

These are what set the true top rates from the run of the mills. You say, look at the beatin that hickory took and we only busted one limb in a juvenile tree. I say, good job guys we didn't break one thing, yard looks great, and Miss Jones said "it looks like we where never here".

Yea I know this one cracks me up more than anything he has ever said. Like no one eles can bomb huge tops, or notch and fell trees where they want them but him. Liked to of have some vid of tulip trees I did for ya X. Post them pics man. Or a couple of them big tops I and you sailed on Fri.

I sure hope that's true, for the planets' sake!
I gotta say Daniel, You seem to remove ALOT of (albeit seemingly) healthy trees. I realize not everyone has the luxury of turning down work they feel is unethical, but I would be ASHAMED of having cut down some of the trees in your videos.
It views like logging, not arboriculture.

X2

Daniel has a perfectly good explanation for it, though. I'm sure we'll get it soon.

I don't know when you guys will realize that you just don't get it. He is above you, below you, and two steps to the right.

Business is business and business must grow. And so I biggered my cuts, I biggered my loads, and I biggered my money. (or somthing like that)

I really hope you get it Daniel, the title of this thread is "pushing the limits." I think I can speak for most every one here (not hollie). Why do you need to be pushing these limits so much and so often? I agree most anyone can guage a huge top and smack it into another tree. But the real skill lie's in not taking a huge top/limb, and not pushing the limits. This isn't an extream sport, it's work. It's not about the biggest and the badest *ss out there it's about the ones that can float down a small top like it were a feather.

Stay safe, and good luck

What are you 2 implying?

I know, he thinks he is a big wig at the aorborist site, he thought he would be here too. Thing is he found out most here are true professionals, we know many years in, any jerk weed with some common sense, pick up, rope, and saw can make a large top or tree fall where he wants. duh!!!!

Want to be a real push to the limit man? Ditch the rope and skidder, use just a notch and some wedges. Not that skilled yet are ya? Hell in most of the trees you dropped I'm pretty sure they could of been hung, tip tied in the others, then walked out with the skidder and still not broke anything.

Keep the faith Smash
