Pulling Power: Maasdam Rope Puller (Rope Come-Along)

What size rope and length do you use for your Prusik?

I like a nice, long rigging splittail for this setup. You just need to make sure that it is 20 to 25% smaller than the rope that you are attaching it to, so in this case I was attaching to a half inch rigging line so the Prusik cord was 3/8.

I think another useful addition to the Maasdam puller is a stout shackle on the Maasdam at the end opposite the original hook, then with a pulley at the end of the pull line, the three strand rope can run from the shackle to the pulley and back through the anchored Maasdam to give even more MA.
