proof of good economy in proper pruning

I´m trying to convince a utility nearby that regulations for good pruning and strict follow up on the contractors will lead to less money spent on lineclearance in the long run instead of accelerating costs. Are there any studies made in addition to Guggenmoos´ that proves me right in a way that even engineers and economists understand?
Please search your minds and the web.

It's all about dollars in the hand ...today, that's how everyone gets rated so if you're spending money that isn't serving the short term goal then you aren't a team player.
Bean Counters Rule, period.
It doesn't have to make sense it has to make money or save money ...on THIS YEARS budget!

I´m familiar with that but that´s not how we wants it to be, is it. I´m so naive that I think I can influence this utility to think a little long term according to pruning. What I need is some studies or anything else that shows that this is good economy so please---.

That's not the way you and I want it to be but the problem with company execs today is they don't know anything but crunching the numbers because it's all about profits and stocks .
G.F. Beranek spent years working his ass off doing the right thing and after all the money they invested in his work they turned around and abandoned the maintenance of the lines in a cost saving measure.
It's cheaper for the company to have me go out and take a tree off the line than to clear miles of it.
Every now and then customers go out of service but it's not about service or safety, it's all about selling, saving money and lining the pockets of the guys at the top.
You need someone at the top that takes pride in the company and not just say they take pride in it, there's a huge difference.

Look for a study involving Long Island Power and Light(?). It was done in the late 80's-They did training for directional pruning and compared results on a 3 year pruning cycle-Even counting training costs they had lower costs with better pruning and the number of customer complaints was MUCH lower.
