pretty good deal on some Merrell mid hikers

Those do look nice. I’ve just never had Merrell’s hold up for me.
The vibram soled versions are much better than their others. About 20yrs ago I hesitantly bought a pair of their standard sole boots for work, wore out the soles in 6 weeks, never did that again. Keens the soles wear much better, but not as well as the vibram soles.

I've hiked Zion, Bryce Canyon, Capitol Reef, Grand Canyon, Red River Gorge, and other places in the last year and a half. Mine have held up till now, It is time to replace as they are breaking down a bit now. I see this all the time though, One person is happy with a product and another is disappointed

They wouldn;t last long climbinbg trees, but they feel like sneakers from day 1... no break in period
just wore them today for the first time.

really happy... I stopped using merrells decades ago because they didn;t hold up, but these have leather uppers and the vibram sole... And I AM so much lighter on the footeare than I used to be back then...

In a lighter use case like your talkin, you should be happy enough for long enough to get your money's worth for sure.

It is Cassidy's arch in Capitol Reef. Also, as a disclaimer... Would never use for tree work, pretty solid walking around. I really liked my leather Lowa's. I'm running the evo2's Arbpro. Took some getting used to, but worth it.
