President Ford's funeral

President Ford\'s funeral

was interesting and insightful. More so for what wasn't covered than what was.

Two huge yet subtle things happened. One, the sitting Prez elected to cut cedar instead of attending and Two, the cherry trees were blossoming...in December!

Somehow in my own way of thinking, the two events are related.

Re: President Ford\'s funeral

Havent you heard of winter flowering cherries?

And the fact that Bush was cutting cedar means very little as anything he does means very little.

Hey Oakwilt,
I did watched some of it, but not the whole thing. His ties here to Michigan were very strong. I have a greater respect for this man then I did before.
It just so happens, are winter conference is in Grand Rapids in a week. I will be stopping by his grave site to pay my respects. I'll post some pics.

Hi SirTreeRat, I've missed you.

I'm gonna visit Bruce lee's grave in Hong Kong
then Shakespeare's in England

Grave visiting is fun.

Axe,

I may be wrong here, but you might want to consider the graemlins in some of your posts- they can actually help convey such subtleties as sarcasm and emotions that are sometimes hard to pick up on in plain text.

Where is Bruce Lee buried?

His body is buried in Seattle, but his spirit is in Hong Kong. Thats where I would go to feel his spirit.

The only thing he ever got in America was grief form all the racists in Hollywood and beyond.

He would have wanted to be buried in Hong Kong.

But his corn bred american wife didn't want that.

Re: President Ford\'s funeral

I think we all feel and change as life marches on. Ford wasn't high on my list of favorites but he did preside over and make sure I left Saigon in the nick of time, and while he did close forever a chapter in American history that might've been better opened and investigated further, he was a man of balance, of friends, and of letters.

It does bode normal that his statements post-mortem, would offend the character of the standing president who won't stand for critique, and a childish response that plays loudly that we would be better served if a man of Ford's character were in charge today. We've gone downhill, far down.

Rest his soul, he deserves it. Let's just hope his kind will affect more the future of America than his predecessors have.

Re: President Ford\'s funeral

For Gerry!

Mama told me when I was young
Come sit beside me, my only son
And listen closely to what I say.
And if you do this
It will help you some sunny day.
Take your time... Don't live too fast,
Troubles will come and they will pass.
Go find a woman and you'll find love,
And don't forget son,
There is someone up above.

(Chorus)
And be a simple kind of man.
Be something you love and understand.
Be a simple kind of man.
Won't you do this for me son,
If you can?

Forget your lust for the rich man's gold
All that you need is in your soul,
And you can do this if you try.
All that I want for you my son,
Is to be satisfied.

(Chorus)

Boy, don't you worry... you'll find yourself.
Follow you heart and nothing else.
And you can do this if you try.
All I want for you my son,
Is to be satisfied.
