some time ago I used the vt as my climbing hitch. The way i tied it caused mine to hockle too. BAD! The along came a skwerl who mentioned a different way to tie and WHALA my hockling days were over.

Reversing the lay of the VT does work. Have you experienced any milking of the blaze line your using? I have seen blaze milk something fierce more than a couple of times.
