NEW YORK CITY DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION CLIMBER & PRUNER $39,246 - $48,591 The New York City Department of Transportation’s Division of Roadway Repair and Maintenance seeks candidates to fill open Climber and Pruner vacancies. JOB DESCRIPTION: Perform all types of work required and related to the planting, maintenance, and removal of trees and large shrubs adjoining the City’s arterial highways. Perform tree inspection work and required; operate vehicles and hand power tools and related duties. Working outdoors in all weather conditions and may be required to work all hours of the day or night and on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.
QUALIFICATIONS: Six (6) months of satisfactory, full-time experience as a climber and pruner or tree worker, performing the duties relating to the planting, maintenance, and removal of trees and large shrubs. LICENSE REQUIREMENT: Valid NY State Motor Vehicle Driver License required prior to appointment; and, a valid NY State Class B Commercial Driver License within one year of being appointed to this position. There may be certain age requirements to obtain this license. If the license was issued in a State which did not require a road test with a vehicle in excess of (18,000 pounds Gross Vehicle Weight Rating), the eligible will be required to demonstrate his/her ability to operate such vehicles to the satisfaction of the appointing officer. Employees must maintain the Class B Commercial Driver License during their employment. Must pass a drug/alcohol screening in order to be employed.
