Poplar removal

Nice job. Question, what's the brand of those skinny ladders you are always using?

Not sure, but they are awesome aren't they!

Excellent as usual. And getting better all the time, Reg.

I agree. Always a pleasure to be swept away from NC and put directly into the life of a UK tree man!

Yeah, that was REALLY smooth! How smooth can you go???

Reg, how do you decide when to use a bypass/mismatch/overlap cut vs. cutting all the way through from one side?

Thankyou all

Usually when I get to about 2/3 of the way through the first cut I’ll decide (depending on the amount of movement) whether I dare continue straight through or whether to start a new cut from the other side as either matching or bypass….although a couple of the bypass cuts on that poplar were purely for the sake of the video.

R&T, the lens is 110 degrees, although its not always noticeable when you’re working so close to the ground.

Thanks Reg. So just one more quick question, if you've decided not to cut straight thru, then when do you match up the cuts vs bypass the cuts?

In anticipation of movement, and how much. Especially so when using a climbing saw as you have to be positioned quite close. Or otherwise, with horizontals you can use a bypass to create a ledge for the butt to sit on while you lift at the tips….If your balance ifs wrong then this will delay the butt falling down while raising up the brush. Others might just as easy ask the crane op to make an adjustment ect, but I prefer to try and solve it at my end.

Gord, yes, as were the majority of lifts. Thanks again

Nice balanced picks! Love 'em!

The second to last pick I was anticipating the saw to fall of the tree trunk. (I'm sure you were aware of that too).

I hate cutting the big wood, with large saws, while in spurs. In those type of situations I am extra cautious of not allowing that to happen with a running saw. It makes me skeerd.
