This is the same doug fir that's in my avatar, it was all hand held while balancing on the rock face. Wish I had more of the rocks for the lower left, next family trip I hope to get more shots.

Very cool, Jesse, I didn't realize that was a Doug-fir at all. I downgraded so don't panorama anymore, but trees and especially the landscape here in the northwest definitely lends itself to panoramapanorama

I will post some more shots. The root is nearly a long as the tree is tall. Next time I go there I will have to find an old timer local to fill me in on the history.

Here is another shot from the other side, I had to jump to a small rock in the lake to get this shot. These are unedited.

And here is part of the root, this goes about another 6 ft outside the frame, and then sinks in to a crack in the rock.
(this photo is a few years old)

This is another Doug Fir here on my island, it is on a bluff facing the Straight of Juan De Fuca... We have a few wind battered trees here, a friend of mine is trying to the term "Guardian Trees" for the sententials like these.
