Pinewood Nematode Outbreak

We are losing alot of pine trees, here in Michigan. I cut 2 more down today. The area of Southfield(North of Detroit) & surrounding cities have all had numbers of pines die. As if ash borer wasn't enough, now we have to deal with this insect. I have pics that I will post later(camera bat died on me).The damage from this insect looks just like EAB, it sucks the life out of the tree, major pine wilt present also. Here is a link to what we have; http://www.na.fs.fed.us/spfo/pubs/howtos/ht_pinewilt/pinewilt.htm

Hey treerat have you check out bark beatle that attacks pines. Th e reason I ask is I have a bud at PUAL SMITHS and he says that there is a beatle attacking pines. He is looking into it some more. Out west it has devsated areas of pines and is in the ADK area I will get some more info from him soon and post.

Well the story is what summs up my budds brain piccing I did, all he said was that when you come across the situation take pics and make sure that it is the nemotode and remove that tree and report it. I asked about the reporting he said to fallow this lil bugger and see if it is going to subside or devistate all.
