Pine sap hazards

I was removing a pine tree the other day and was getting excessive amount of sap build up, making chain saw use more hazardous. Just wanted to pass a helpful bit of info- gasoline works very well to dissolve it. Every ten minutes or so I'd "wash" my hands with mixed gas, eliminating sticky fingers.

GOOP hand cleaner is da bomb! dissolves the stuff very well without poisoning yourself with the gas.

Pine pitch can be hazardous in other ways. We took down a huge white pine that had a deck built around it. limbed and topped the first day, went back to chunk it out the second.

When I got to the top the second day the ground crew wasn't quite ready so I took a seat on top of one of the leaders. didn't realize how much that pitch would soak through the pants.

Needless to say, when I stripped down for my shower at the end of the day I unexpectedly "waxed" my arse as I pulled off my underwear...Pine Pitch, not to be trifled with!

Sorry, but that's funny!

I use rubbing alcohol to take it off my skin, friendlier than gasoline. I ignore it on my climbing rope. Once in awhile my hitch cord gets seriously gummed up, then I'll clean it up a little with rubbing alcohol. Right now the green white pine cones are running sap off the ends like a dripping faucet.

My wife tells me the pine pitch smells great when I get back from the woods. Hmmm, this could be a good product...
