Petzl shunt as an SRT wrench

I setup this stiff tether to my shunt, it works fine, you can pull on the release cord until the tether bends enough to start to release the hitch, its very easy to use and at first glance does the job.

Using a tether like that is how I run a RADS setup.

Why didn't I think of using it above a hitch???

how do you mean? moving it to the upper holes?

I prefer my rads setup, this was just a test to see if it competes with the RW.

This is how I setup RADS.

Upper.

This was configured before DMM came out with the locking version of the Revolver...this kinda dates the setup.

Lower...

By adjusting the length of the cord to the Shunt it will trail down with me as I move. If I want to do a limb walk I disconnect the cord and leave the Shunt high on the rope. Then, when coming back the I'd is in 2:1 so I can pull myself back in.

I like this set-up and actually like the wire gate revolver better but when it is not a link to life support. The added cord is a great idea to keep it all within reach. I don't own one but from what I read the Shunt can be used on doubled rope as well and 10-11mm, correct.
