Payroll Service

Just curious what payroll services you guys are using and what you are paying weekly or bi-weekly. We had a payroll service for 8yrs but have been doing it in house the past 2yrs. Kind a pain in the and thinking of going back to them. PM me if your not comfortable of listing what you pay, thanks.

I just found a service for 35 bucks a month up to 10 employees. We havent committed to anyone yet as we have been searching around for a program that is pay as you go with workers comp. Paychex is outrageous in my opinion. 35 a week per employee

My bookkeeper charged $14 per payperiod for one employee and myself for payroll processing, and worker's comp reporting, according to my last statement. This is at $45/ hour.

We had Paychex and did drop them due to being outrageous. I did call them back as well as a couple other payroll services and they seem to be coming in the cheapest. They were all close.

Now they are $26.35 a week and $35.70 bi-weekly for up to 5 employees. Now if I can just convince my guys to take their pay bi-weekly.

Hi Cameron,

IS that paychex at 26.35 for up to five guys? I have them now and I am paying like 58. a week for 2-3 guys????

I may have to call them. I would like to find someone cheaper, but there service is good.

They have really come down in price. I also think it has to do with the sales guy you get. He was giving me 15% off to sign with them. He knew I had problems in the past with what they were charging me.

I had three employees at the time and it was $185.00 bi-weekly. I hadn't been checking my statements and when I saw that I cancelled them immediately. Their sales rep called, no lie, at least 20 times wanting to know what they could to have our business back. I said they had been ripping us off, stop calling us. Here I am three years later probably going back to them because they do provide good service.

I had also called ADP and USA payroll too. I wanted to know how long the rate was good for, he said one year. I also wanted to know any extra charges, there was postage and w-2 filing. I didn't want anymore surprises.

I am starting with Paychex in a couple months, and they are at 100/mo for bi-weekly checks for <10 employees I think. Based on what they do, it seemed like a pretty good deal, but I don't have experience with anyone else.

I am waiting to hear back... The rep said the underwriters they use only do low risk type stuff, so the answer is most likely no.

The reason I went with them is that my wife's family has been using Advantage/Paychex for a looooong time with very good feedback. As in, no mistakes, audits or other problems in like 30-40 years.

I pay semi-monthly. Almost the same as biweekly, but two less paydays per year for me to pay for processing.

For employees, they always get paid on the same date of the month. Payperiods are 1-15 and 16-end of month. Time sheets due on last day of payperiod. They always get paid 5 days later. They know they will have a check before the rent is due on the 1st of the month, and can set up their automatic or manual paydays (such as for a credit card) to come after their other paycheck. They never get caught with a payday on the second of the month, sweating rent.

Works for me.

As an aside, for a good new employee, I pretty much always offer an advance on their paycheck after they work a few days or a week, so that they will have the money they need to come to work with what they might need (gas money, good boots, food), as they might start work on the 1st of the month, and then wouldn't get paid until the 20th.

Check With a local tax accountant. Mine does my payroll for $20 per pay peroid, up to 10 employees. Also does all my payroll taxes and W-2s. I pay bi-weekly.

I use intuit, formerly Paycycle. It is just WAY to easy to use. It is built right into quickbooks, so everything is in sync. No double entering data.

The service is 39 a month? Up to at least 10 employees. They file ALL forms electronically, and you can even generate 1099 forms from the service for your contractors.

Payroll takes me about 2 minutes a week.

Oh, and of course, it does payroll taxes as well. You can also do WC thru it, but I do that with another service.

I found a local company to do bi-weekly payroll (including everything) for $31 per pay period ($62/month). They also will handle WC, which is what I was looking for.
