You would Norm! /forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif

My Dad loves them too. He loves them because he always used them. He was never one to spike a prune, so he used the tallest ladder available- 40'. He said that it took two guys to carry 'em, but the trees appreciated it! Back then, no one had throwlines or did much footlocking, so ladders made the most sense.

He doesn't love footlocking, so the ladder is his "10 sec footlock" as he says.

Come to think of it, my Brother is fond of them too!

Mark, does your father still climb? If so does he use "new" techniques and gear or is he more old school?

treehopper i am also a fan of the two climber method. on thurs. 11/18 i craned a elm in perth amboy, nj. the first four pics i slung and cut. by 11:00am i was tired and angry. this attitude changed the minds of some people and two climbers began to work in harmony and all was well. two climbers as wioth anything depends on the tree but, most times you are using a crane for some reason. i had a limb and wood pick that was 9100lbs. with four or five 5000lbs. limb picks.

we used a man by the name of leon. I have been working with him for about seven years. he has a krups 60 ton. i actually worked with his employee mike. by the fourth pick i was in sync with him. i trusted him after the first pick but we gelled by the fourth.
