parachute recovery

your tax dollar hard at work SZ.
does it ever make sense?

It was a prototype being designed for the military to deploy small payloads with a very small ram air chute (aprox. 2 to 3 feet in diameter). They were static relased at 3000 feet and designed to use GPS to guide temselves into the cottonwood grove. 3 out of 8 hit the grove. 1 out of those 3 got hung up.
4 trucks, 10 guys, g.p.s. toys, lap tops, Heli for 8 hours,photographers/cameramen, and an arborist....and all to get the thing hung up 25 feet in the air.

So was that $10/ft to the cannister or the TOP of the chute? AND, DID you use your tape measure or their HI-TECH one?

Hey at least they hired an arborist to do the climbing. No one got killed AND the tree was standing after the gizmo was retrieved!!!
