There are enough vets on this site and in the industry (esp in the US) to know that this individual death is useful to politicians, but in the scheme of the conflict on the ground is pretty meaningless.

If only it were as simple as removing the 'leader'...like I said there are enough guys on here to know it is not.

It's good to see that our military forces are highly trained and are highly capable of doing their job efficiently. For the men and women of the armed forces I saw job well done and keep up the good work. For Obama it's a slight of hand. Here we got Bin Laden... look at this while I steal every penny from you in taxes and do nothing ot help with the fuel prices.
 
Yes, the war on terror will go on. There are more who need a dose of justice, and there always will be.

Everyone is cheering about this becaus they all think this is the end. Well its not. Look at Sadam thats been what 5 years? and we are still at war.What did we realy solve by killing him???

Plus I heard that Obama isn't even an American. He's black, and that frightens me. He is different, and that pisses me off too. My mind is too small to understand that rising fuel costs are a global issue. It's easier for me to blame Obama about raising taxes, which has not actually happened, rather than educate myself about the financial meltdown ushered in by the gop and unregulated greed from wall street.

But god bless the USA anyway!

Can't wait to vote for a Trump/Palin ticket in 2012. They'll sort out all this mess.

This was an objective that took weeks if not longer to plan out. For an administration to plan this and not utter a single syllable about it beforehand is huge accomplishment, especially in this day and age. If this mission had gone bad somehow, Obama would have been crucified in the press so I don't see anything wrong in taking his fair share of credit. To say, "all he said was go for it" is very naive imo. I'm not saying he should get a free pass from here on out but I do think that his administration will get more respect on foreign policy issues.

That was my first thought... "what... is there an election coming up or some news they are looking to drown out, wag the dog style".. After 10 years I figured that he was either an asset or they were keeping him alive just to have a boogey-man/poster child to keep selling those outrageous military budgets to the American people..

And I don't buy the "burial at sea" story either.. Odds are that they cut him into little pieces for some type of satanic ritual, disected his brain, and sent the skull to Yale to sit next to Geronimo's..

Personally I respected Osama.. He had a very peaceful demeanor and look, which I have found to be the case with true holy men. If what they say is true about him, he was living a life dedicated to serving God.. Might seem like a distorted view of what that means to you and me, but serving God none the less.. He walked away from a family fortune to go live in a cave, and put his life on the line fighting for what he believed was right. That type of sacrafice to live according to one's personal values is admirable.

Compare that to 43, who used his daddy's connections to shirk military duty, was a drunk and cokehead, that made his money by raising taxes to build a private baseball stadium with public money, whilst professing free market capitalism, started a war with falsified intelligence for personal reasons... a war that caused the death of near 1 million civilians, started a international policy of pre-emptive war, instituted torture as a tool of the state, etc etc.. Osama is a saint compared to that!

You guys don't believe that Obama is doing the slight of hand with fuel prices and everything else and just wants re-elected? Well you can all suck it. You know why? Right now it seems like oh something bad happens in the middle east so we raise fuel prices. The fuel companies have had record profits. Here is something good that has happened in the middle east and gas prices jumped up.
 
Fuel still costs us way less than it actually does. It is so ridiculously subsidized. Gas is just straight up expensive no matter which way you cut it. We either pay it at the pump, or pay with dirty air, water, and lots of dead people.
 
Osama is despised by the vast majority of the Islamic world. He took a few fundamental passages out of the Koran and began brainwashing those that were desperate enough to listen. To non-extremest Muslims, taking an innocent life is the worst crime one can commit with suicide right behind that. He was responsible for a huge number of Muslim deaths and caused worldwide hatred for their religion. The reason they threw him out to sea was so that non of his followers have a place that they could pay tribute, and in accordance to Islamic law they must be put to rest within 24 hrs. Having a cultural understanding of this region is very important for future relations.
