one fat sycamore!!

Hey, I know right were that tree is, in Saucon Valley. Did you guys work on it? That tree is huge I always take people past it to show them when I am in the area.

Those things get SO frikkin' big. I deadwooded one that my 25' sling would barely go around so, nearly 8'dbh; I think it was about 90' tall, awesome spread. Kinda hard to get around in because of the long internodes and all but still one of the funnest trees I've ever climbed.

That is a fat Sycamore. The first two lateral branches come out like it is a person asking for a big hug. Did you give her a big hug?

I wished there were more Sycamores over here. They are fun to climb.

My thoughts are you aint tried to climb one in a lite steady rain. I'd say you never had to spend all day chippin one either.

Cough and sneeze fits come to mind.

re chips, wear a mask and save your lungs!

or better yet conserve the tree.

Spread like that you'll want 2 or 3 ropes and swing like Johnny Weismuller.

thanks for posting a picture of that sycamore.

I went to see it and found it was very hollow, so i was contracted to take it down.

here it is on the bed of our k-boom truck last week.

If your even in Massachusetts, and stumble upon a small town of Sunderland, which is right next to the town of Amherst, where UMASS college is located. Their is a HUGE sycamore tree. I have never measured it, but it is massive. It grows in the flat lands of the Connecticut river valley and has great soil. You should check it out.

This one we took down was pretty big, but no where near as big as the one at the beginning of this thread.

I'm going to attemp to make a fancy tree house out of this one for my daughter.

I haven't measured the diameter yet actually, I'm thinking around 5 foot. The tree leaned over a house a bit. We did a crane assisted tree removal. video came out really nice, good lighting, pretty day.

Cool.

maybe we should have a thread titled: the biggest trees in your area.

we can post pictures and directions to them.

that way, when ever traveling, we can view some big trees on the way.

a lot of times, the champion tree lists don't tell the addresses/locations of the trees exactly.

The biggest Sycamore in RI is in my cousin's front yard in Lincoln, RI. It measures 230" in circumference X 95' tall, with a spread of 95 feet.

The second largest one is right here in RWP, up by the Betsy Williams cottage, some of you may have seen it back in July.

I just nominated a sycamore in PA for the champions list that has a circumference of 23 feet and a spread of 120x130 although it is only 65 feet tall. it still is one of the top ten in the region in points totals.

That's because most private homeowners don't want random tree geeks stumbling onto their property at odd hours to gawk

Man....I've seen a guy go to the hospital from chipping a sycamore....the coughing and sneezing is no joke. Neat looking trees and fun to climb in nice weather....the end!!
