oak processionnary caterpillars

Hi all
not had any post in this area before and i a bit green on my bugs and cruds but i'm starting to look into controlling oak processionnary caterpillars with pheromone traps when the change, have any of you had any success with this? or got any other ideas

Never heard of this insect before now, you guys over there have a nasty bugger on your trees. I don't know if it's here in the States.
Have you been stung by one?

No not 'yet' but i'm also not going to do them with fire as it can make the hairs airbourne. the idea so far is to spray with sugar water to stick the hairs on then remove by hand with full protective gear on, climbing!!!!!

In the area where I live this critter is getting to be Treeworker enemy number one.
I bought myself a complete breathing system. The air is filtered in a unit on your back and than blown into the hood (helmet with a hood over it). We wear flame retardant overalls and double gloves (surgical and than work gloves). Be very careful when you remove your overall to not touch the outer parts of the overall.

This is a friend of ours that was a bit careless.
