I live in the Portland area! I went to college in Ashland just down the road from Medford. Grants Pass is the gateway to the redwoods, I love driving through there on the way to Gold Beach. They got monster trees down there! Just got a new Power shot G9 so those pics will be rolling soon Easy!

I was near Portland, now in Ruch / Jacksonville which you must know from being down here. Been down here for 2 years. Planning to go back north. House is on the market.
By the way, we got 8 inches of snow in Applegate Valley last night.
You have the camera I may get next. Either the G9 or the S5 IS for the 12x zoom. My S1 IS is still going strong after years of hiking. Hard choice now that the S5 IS has 8 megapixels. Do I want 2 more megapixels, or the 12x zoom.
And not sure if you caught my posts on hiking or other forums the past week, but I found the secret mega redwood. And since you like the monster trees, here's a small image for you...
