New Tribe Onyx Harness

often enough. I am finding myself much more likely to use a second TIP, rather than figure a way to do without. I used to just have the swivel and ring on one bridge, but with two TIPs they would get in each others way. Easier to manage this way. I think Bingham uses a swivel on each bridge.

the second bridge is also shorter, so if that seems advantageous in some ascent, I will clip in there instead.

I just got mine in the mail. I'm trying to adjust it and with the stick legs I have, I must really suck the leg pads in resulting in a long tail from the adjusting strap. Can I cut it off and leave a tail?

...Can I cut it off and leave a tail?

Sure you can. I would fold and sew the cut ends the same way as they come since this catches and stops the ends from coming out.

I suggest you climb with it for awhile before cutting to make sure nothings get cut too short. FWIW, the leg straps hang loose while you are standing and are not snugged tight to the legs as with some saddles.

I have stick legs too.. If you have enough tail you could tie it in a overhand too. This may be cumbersome but your not cutting anything so you can sell me the harness later!

Gorman, before I cut anything away I would run it a few climbs just incase you need to tweak the fit of those legs. Just an option.

I'm with Monkey on this. You might really want to let those leg straps out as far as possible, and let them hang loose, rather than trying to snug them up.

I run mine so standing on the ground they are just above my knees. Tighter always seems to bind in all the wrong places when I'm hanging from it.

I trimmed my straps to make it neater...definitely climb in it first before trimming though. I was nervous for a little while thinking I had cut them too short. Turns out it's adjusted perfect. Phew. Can I just say how much I love the onyx? It's head and shoulders above the sequoia in my opinion. I traded the sequoia for the onyx and am very happy I did. Seems to stay adjusted and the leg support is phenomenal.

So I'm torn between the tree motion s light and the onyx, anybody have any experience with both of them to make a comparison? I love that the onyx is made in my home town so that kind of gives it some points to start with lol. I like the idea of it being light enough to put in a pack if I need to backpack in somewhere and it seems like the onyx has an edge in that area. But how about overall comfort on both? Does one have an edge over the other at all?

Get on the I-5 and see Casy, check out what he has done to the Nikoski also.
