NEW TRIBE FLOATING D SADDLE!!

Check out newtribe.com....they did it finally! It looks pretty good however, it looks like the top sliding D must have at least one loaded attachment on it in order for the leg straps to support your weight. in other words you cant just attach biners to the bridge you must use the D ring. It also look like the floating D may ride real high, at around face level when loaded, I could be wrong just going off what I know about NT saddles. With that aside I know I am going to be twitching until I get to take this thing for a ride. Wish I waiting for this to come out before buying an ERGO, unfortunatley my saddle money is spent.

*** maybe I am wrong about having to use the D Ring, taking a second look you should be able to attach directly to the bridge it would just load the sliding D differently. Its a strange setup but it looks fine.

More than likely Tim Kovar or someone from NT will have them along next week at the Recreational Tree Climbing Rendezvous. If so, I'll give it a test flight and report back.

Looks like a great design aside from the use of those vintage huge d's on the bridges. I hate slop in a system and those guarantee it. Not to mention they're heavy and bulky.

Very interesting...It kind of looks confusing on how it works exactly. I love my treeMotion but I would give it a test flight....I kind of like the way their leg straps are

I like the idea of the load being distributed between the main bridge and leg straps, but I don't think that saddle is a good answer. It looks sloppy.

I'd like to try it to be sure, just going on looks at this point. I liked the basic NT for comfort, but never bought it because it's not a practical working harness.

I like the idea but i think they could have refined the bridge attachment a little better. Looks like they could have done in like the Bashlin Saddle XS, and kept it more streamline. I always liked the separate floating suspension for the waist and the legs.

They used a webbing bridge....great feature # 1, the rope bridges with a care are retarded at best ;) you can't see what is happening INSIDE the jacket. With webbing it is very easy to inspect.

Also, the way the gear loops are set up, great feature # 2 similar to my Sequoia; very intuitive and easy to get stuff on and off.

And the second ring on the legstrap bridge, could that be used to rig SRT? I think maybe, yeah?

I like it.

As far as sloppiness? maybe If you run a split-tail system with 2 biners, but would work fine with a HC rig, isn't everybody flying a hitchclimber now ;) lol

The design of the leg straps (and leg comfort) on all NT harnesses depends on the leg strap D being linked to the main attachment point on the harness, or bridge in this case. They can't be separated.

I agree with an earlier comment that there will be hardware in the climber's face.

Gibson Tree Care, you can definitely use the leg strap D for a second attachment for an SRT system (or lanyard or second DdRT system), what I do on a "standard" NT harness.

No worries on the bridge construction, if it failed you're still attached to the legstrap D, if the leg strap D failed you're still on the bridge. NT does great quality workmanship, bridge failure would be my least concern.

I've been waiting for them to make this harness, and this is what they came up with??
Why not just have a normal bridge for cryin out loud. I guess I'll never own a newtribe..

If it had a normal bridge it would be the same design (and same leg straps) as any other arborist bridge harness, no point in NT redoing what's already been done well by a bunch of other harness manufacturers.

As i mentioned before, NT legstrap design is completely different and more comfortable than any other arb harness. There's a price to pay for the comfort, an independent bridge can't be implemented with that leg strap system. Believe me if it could've been done they would've done it.

Climbed on the NT Nikosi over the weekend, superb! I was skeptical because it all looked too complicated with the leg bridge to anchor bridge connection but... it's clear that Casey at New Tribe (who designed it) really worked it out and arrived at a superb bridge solution for the NT harness. The mobility is equal to the Butterfly II and Sequoia (the bridge harnesses I've spent plenty of time in) and the comfort far exceeds either. I found that the link between the legstrap D and the bridge created more control and balance when I was in extreme body positions on rope.

If you already like NT harnesses and have wished for a floating bridge you'll love it.

So is there hardware in your face like you thought there might be? Is it sloppy like a few guys thought it might be? What is the cost? You said it is superb so I gather that you really like it. If you had the cash for the Treemotion would you defer to this saddle based upon your test ride or would you go for the Treemotion?
