New Toro Tx 1000 Wide Track

No the piston set up is arranged so you cannot get the piece far away from the machine when lowering (or lifting) to put it more to the center of the dump trailer. Bit disappointing, but life will go on.
You are side loading with a clam style grapple right? You don't have a bmg right? Have you used one? I'll bet it would make stacking logs more easy then a clam. I have never used a clam on a mini though.

Our dump trailer is boxed. 6' walls removable roof. I can stack 8'-12' logs easier then 6' and under. With the bmg I can stack them higher then the grapple hangs. We put one end of the log on the end of trailer, or end of current stack in trailer, go to other end and grab/lift and push till its balanced in, then shove er the rest of the way up in with the highest part of the jib part where the grapple dangles from. The newer bmgs actually have serrated teeth on that spot. I've been able to load large logs I can barely pic one end up. Actually we've loaded logs I can't pic one end up with by starting/pushing it onto the trailer with the ramp.

If anyone is considering this machine near to me I bought it for $28,400. from Franklin Equipment in Columbus and they delivered it for free with a full tank (2 tanks and both were full) and I can just go down the road about 8 miles and have the warranty work at the place that wanted $38,400. for it who never called me back for a demo and never issued a written quote to me (to this day 2 months later) but they have a great service manager.

I have been running the non bmg type grapple for about 10 years now. I had a bmg for a year and hated it. It flopped around and you couldn't get the prong to go below the middle of the log to grab it if two were near each other and ...uggh...you had to get off the machine to divide them. With the rake grapple like I have you can bang and doze into the logs to separate or orient them any way you want.

I am negotiating on a 48" opening ANBO like Oasis mentioned earlier in the thread. My worry is going thru a gate as it is 4' wide and the tx1000 is only 35" wide but problem solved when you just elevate the grapple to go thru the gate.

Here you go...

OasisTree, could you show me any vid of you picking up 40 plus dia. logs so I know I am not wasting my money when I can pick up 36" dia logs with the grapple I have.

I am thinking a 40 plusser will slip out while you are trying to grab or elevate it because of the length of the tines etc. If I buy the ANBO will my Dingo grapple become useless? Did yours? Your only pict is with your tx1000 and a BMG on it.

I think the bmg may articulate to the center with slightly better effect than the sideways grapples. I can center a log on my 16' standard flatbed by setting an end down and rotating the (Sk650) mini while the bmg free swivels the butt.

I think I'd like the BMG without the free spinning as I think you are right that it may out extend a sideways grapple but I hate the free spin while fumbling to grab a piece that is side by side with another.

I'm this close to pulling the trigger on the BMG. But for me fences and gates are not the deciding factor. I can take down a section of fence in most cases pretty quick. I have the wide track machine and most gates around me are the standard 36". My decision is going to be based on feeding the chipper and dragging long sections of branch.

Dont settle for just one. Ge the BMG first and then get the clam style grapple later. There is a place for them both in our industry. However, what you jut described the BMG would suit you best and will make you lots of money. Ours goes out everyday.

I already have the clam style grapple, bought it with the machine.. I know I'm going to buy a BMG, its just hard to drop the dough when the clam style grapple is working just fine. For the long branches we are just using a sling at this point and dragging them out. It works well enough for now.

Chris

Slings surely have to drop production imensely. I know the first time I used a mini we used a rope and friction hitch. We tied a bowline (or a steel biner, don't remember) and adjusted the friction hitch to shorten the rope.

There is a money back guarantee/offer on the BMG. Buy once, cry once...

Your waisting time. You need to get the BMG like a year ago(y) It is absolutely amazing what you can do with them. I feed the chipper all day with them.
