New Saddle Shopping

I burned through half a dozen saddles. Fell in love with the TM, then went to an onyx, I prefer the onyx, but not by much. 6’ and 160#. I had to get the extra padding in the leg loops, just to fill space.
I’d either go with a MB or a TM. My other climber managed to find an onyx recently maybe through arbsession or baileys? There might be a few out there. But I’d strongly look at the MB, the onyx has a few minor downsides when on spurs, the geometry of the d’s make a flip line in a level station uncomfortable, any incline really uncomfortable, slight decline is chill but wears out the legs after a while. The MB from what I’ve heard has all the perks of the onyx but better spur climbing geometry

The back pad on the MB 2.0 is a big step up from the Onyx back pad.

How's single rope climbing on the MB? That's my determining factor now. Sounds like it checks all the boxes, just want to make sure it adjusts well enough to be upright when rope walking. The TA won't let me stay upright no matter how I adjust it. Great for hip thrusting, terrible for rope walking.

Some day I'll get big crane jobs ;)

Replying just cause I have the onyx and think it’s similar to the MB.
Does just fine, I flipped my rigging plates and roll with two bridges, one is adjustable. I also tend to clip my chest harness to my bridge ring and makes for a super upright position.

I'll give it a shot. I'll try to do some videos and stuff. That's more my wife's ally, but worth a shot. I'm getting to be particular in what I want as I get older, lol.

I use the roll’n’lock zip tied on one bridge, my ring goes through both. Grab the tail and suck it in, and when at my work station just slack it out.
I found I like it only sucked in on ascents, so not aiming for extending it beyond my normal working bridge. Sometimes on long limb walks I’ll suck it in a bit to keep the hitch in easy reach.

Are those life support rated zip ties? Asking for a friend

But seriously, that makes sense, and it makes me think I might start using that "belay loop" thing on my saddle for longer ascents again.

On the subject of adjustable bridges, have y'all seen Daigentanoens recent idea for making any bridge adjustable?
He has some elegantly simple ideas for basic issues, and calming ass videos
When I replaced my bridge to make it a double last month I tied some accessory cord in a prusik around both. The mismatch in size let me use a 4-wrap for the same grip

weird, so the ta is not adjustable in that way?

Ha! Yeeeeha. The zip ties just hold it in place, I have a carabiner through it too but it’s a screw gate and do want to get around to see if a screw link could fit. It’s the old Mumford adjustable bridge with a little bit of a spin. Nothin fancy, it’s backed up, and the roll’n’lock acts as a mechanical knot block.
