I just received my new Rope Guide yesterday and like what I see. If you are familiar with the original, then I will try to share some of the new changes with you.
The first change I noticed was that the pulley is new. It is now a sealed ball bearing with thin cheek plates. It is said to be less likely to turn on its side during use.
The next change is one of safety- the retriever strap is no longer mounted to the cam. It is now on the underside of the device itself. This way, it cannot turn 90* to the cam and prevent it from working properly.
Third, there is now a rubber band (thick one) attached to the cam to keep tension on the rope. Another good safety precaution.
It seems to work the same as the original only less likely to have any little flaws during the climb. Well done Hubert!
