Re: new poster. hello everyone! and first question
Something that will help a little. Go to www.sherrilltree.com www.wesspur.com and www.baileysonline.com
Go there and order you some catalogs, then when some one talks gear you can look it up. Until you get them, just go to the web site. Not only that you can take them to your boss and show him. It would be good to go ahead and order a few things that most of everyone has on them during any given climb.
In my opinion go ahead and get you a split tail like you have heard, and a preswick. When you go to class they should teach you both ways. With both of them it is great to have a micro pulley. Then it is nice to have plenty of carabiners, 4 is nice, and a rope snap.
Go ahead and get you the catalogs, they are free! And check out Tree Stuff, www.treestuff.com Don't think that they have a catalog, but they are great and have free next day ordering "dont quote me on that" Sherrill has a lot of helpful tips all through there book also.
Hope this helps you a little bit!
