Yeah, logo's gotta be simple. Now everytime you print a letterhead, biz card, t-shirts, or lettering on trucks- it will cost you a lot more because you have a "busy" logo.

Can you calm it down a bit?

iam working on the tree and will try to tone it down i erased the name don't want to reveal it until the finshed product is complete

I like the look of the "negative" print. Reduce the differences in textures though.

One time I was talking with a YP salesman after setting up my book ad. I gave him one of my cards. He asked where the phone number was. I pointed to the line. He asked me again. I pointed with a pen. He asked me again. Then I realized what he was getting at. The number was printed in a font that was too small. Since many people have eyes that aren't 100% he taught me that it was more important that they know my phone number than the fact that I'm a Certified Arbo.

Your 100% right Tom, I am working on my phone book ad for this year and my new sales rep asked whats that little diamond on last years ad. I had to laugh it was the senior discount. I told her this year lets make it a little larger. /forum/images/graemlins/bigeyes.gif

I don't like the climber in your ad, it looks too much like this buffoon

i know, i am just playing around with some pics
i just wanted to see what it looked like and what everyone thought about it.
in the final logo if i go with tree guy i'll take a pic of myself.
I am leaning towards using a tree instead, beacuse i do other work besides climbing.

Alright, I see no one cared for my new logo(I was trying for a more modern look with the first one). So I went back to the drawing board and came up with this, remember just a sketch, but I think this is a little more professional.

I'm a fan of having a logo that is distinct. The tree that you have is too perfect and generic. TAke a look at sports logos. You may not know the sport but you can generally see what the team name is. Thumb through the yellow pages and see what logos you recognize. Product branding is what you're thinking about.

Nike Swoosh
Texaco Star
3M
Apple computers

The tree you chose looks like a lot of other tree company trees. Wright Tree Service comes to mind.

You must be comfortable getting feedback. Keep throwing ideas out, I'm sure that the design team here at the Tree Buzz Cafe will be able to nudge things along with you.

The logo looks nice enough to me. Like Tom says, it looks common enough to be used already by others. One thing I would suggest is to keep away from using trees that are in trouble in the logo. What I mean is trees that are topped, look topped or maybe need two cables and a through-rod! /forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Hitting at what Mark mentioned about printing on shirts, if the logo has really large sections of print, when you're working, the sweat won't breathe through the logo.

Might sound nit-picky. But I remember "some place" I used to work and their logo didn't breathe very well and my back was sweaty on those one or two days I worked hard! If there is open space between the colors and letters, your workers will be happier!
