NEW Kask Earmuff Adapters!

I have been testing out the new Kask Earmuff Adapters for the past week. These are the answers to all the problems we have been facing with the muff brackets falling out, twisting, and otherwise giving us grief.

These new brackets work wonderfully. They have 1 set screw, and clip under the helmet brim, which means they don't move! All muffs work extremely well with this new bracket, and I havent experienced any fitment issues with all the muffs ive tried.

These new brackets will be provided to anyone who currently owns a Kask helmet, FREE of charge! Kask is hoping to have these available by ISA Expo in Chicago. If they are in fact shipped to the USA by then, they will be handed out @ Kask booth for FREE. If you cant make it to ISA Expo, stop by your local dealer, we will all have the brackets in stock for FREE.

The pictures below show the new bracket. Keep in mind this is a prototype, and rough looking. The new brackets will be made out of smooth high tensile plastic, and will be black in color.

Cool, I hope they work better.

Mine were fine, then one day I got banged slightly and now one always pops out of the metal bracket. Irritating.

What about the visor screws backing out?

Mine finally did and I lost the teflone washer, but kept the alum bolt.

I did put locktight on MattyD's kask helmet and I think his visor bolts have never loosened. If so, that might be the answer.

Another thing. Kinda weird. I thought maybe my inside of my shield must have gotten pine sap sprayed, because I went to clean it with water and it was extremely sticky, you could not even wipe it.

then, just today, the other two crew members asked my how did I clean mine because theirs are extremely sticky. And they were.

why is the outside smooth and dry, but the insides extremely sticky? I really don't think it's pine sap. I'm wondering if some anti fog stuff (we did not put anything on them) is messing up the plastic or something.

Still great helmets and I'm sure if something is wrong that company will make it right, just like they are trying to do with the ear protection brackets.

later.

Whoops, try this!

The right backing plates dont have a slot-in tab at all, just screw holes that match the mounting holes on the helmet.

They sit lower, where they should, and the mounting is solid, no slop.

I dont know why these muffs aren't being used/sold with the Kask helmets elsewhere.

The adaptors are just a make-shift way of using up old muffs in my opinion.

I have to chuckle :)

I don't wear my muffs unless I'm using noise toys. The day after I first read this thread I used my muffs. The next day I took them off...and one of the screws made it's bid for freedom! Now I have to see if I have a metric screw that small. I really don't want to re-tap the threads and then have a sloppy fit. I'm going to Lock Tite the remaining screws.

I guess if you like to take muffs on/off on/off depending on what you're doing then adaptors are a good idea.

But they tend to flog out & get sloppy over time.

I do love a handsaw-only prune job.....until the ground guys who just dont get how pleasant it is to be up there with no noise crank up the chipper before you're done!

I have those screw in type. They are good. The problem is when you use the others especially if you want to use a communication muff set.
They do tend to make the helmet heavier and move around more in my experience.
