@chiselbit wondering what you decided on?
We had a piston blow out the side of the motor in our old 10” woodchuck last night that is forcing us to buy new faster than we had planned. Lots of good information here to take into our demos!
What’s everyone’s take on changing knives drum vs disk?
Drum is easier, quicker, and cheaper with more even edge wear on the knives vs a verticle anvil on a disk unit.
Craneguy nailed it. 20 min for two guys to change 4 blades on our 15 inch. Anvil adjustment about 15 min (the only time we have needed to). Knife wear is fairly consistent unless you get something trough you were not supposed to. But hardware doesn’t help either drum or disk. I
I think I saw a picture of your engine failure on Facebook. That just sucks this time of year. If you have a good dealer they will work with you on your demos to make sure you have a chipper.... after the sale, don’t hold your breath!
