New chipper purchase.

Hmmm interesting, anybody want to chime in on Vermeer? I have been researching morbark for a while and I do like their simplicity and beafyness. I have had my bc1000 for 16 years. It has been very reliable. The 3 times it broke down I would take it up to my Vermeer dealer and they would have a 15 or 18 inch machine or a demo for me to use AT NO CHARGE and this was way after any warranty ran out. 3 times in 16 years. I am happy with that track record, but what is more important is the support behind the machine. If my morbark breaks down and I have to pay $1000 to rent their chipper while they repair or worse, they don't have a chipper for me and I have to make two trips one to morbark and one to Vermeer to rent a chipper, I think you get my point.

I will be demoing a morbark next week

Talk to the dealers. When I buy stuff new I research more on customer loyalty and parts available. I do all repairs in house. Everything's gonna break its just a matter at how bad it dose and when it dose.

Coal that is the hurricane I bought. It was my buddy's I've been looking at it for years and I finally said lets do it. Looks yea paints horrible, some hydro hoses, a couple leaks, but this winter I'll tear it all down and redo everything and for the price I paid it is a huge investment gains of I get rid of. I think I made my lil eager beaver work hard enough doing 70 yards every week.

, but what is more important is the support behind the machine.
Spot on! I love Morbark (in spite of the problems I've had, and there have been some winners!)

I hate Vermeer. But you absolutely can't put a price on good dealer support, and given your history with your Vermeer dealer... definitely increases the odds of you buying the yellow stuff from Iowa vs. red monsters from Michigan!

Jeff I just read your older thread and learned of the problems you and others were having. I'm considering financing a typhoon ... brand new. I'm hoping Mobark has addressed those issues. Bottom line, I'm still getting a Mobark. In the "Monstabark" version. I may have to wait until my relocation is complete first. Also shopping for a 75' elevator, which I'm not waiting for. :D
