New chainsaws

Don't know about the EMI. As soon as the stihl guy started talking about hooking my saws to his laptop, all I could hear was the lid being nailed onto stihl's coffin. All these emissions rules will hopefully make my kid's world a better place, doesn't mean I have to like what it's doing to my equipment.
 
BigWood you can't be serious, computers and chainsaws WTF. There go the good old days. I was in my stihl shop today and there sitting in front me was the 261 spacecraft and the good ole 260 Pro ( probably the last ). Chalk and cheese I am hearing. Felt like buying that 260 on the spot, maybe get them to put my name on it as work is good.
 
Think about the aftermarket. How much for a chip to make my 660 blow through wood like it was rotten? Bigger and better.

Do not get me wrong, old school rules. If it blows up, rebuild it better.
 
True dat Cre, I am for progress but not at the expense of reliability. As I have always learned with high tech stuff, it comes with a new set of learning curve built in problems. I like me some old school.

No problem Cre as a family man myself I truly understand. Would have liked to visit the cape. But I will be back soon fer sure. Keep in touch by PM. My side of the world always open dude anytime specially winter time to get a little thaw out.
 
Hear that bruh.They trying something new carb has a valve controled by the coil.Why I am glad I build my saws why people are buying new I'll be buying the old.Only reason I got the new ms201T cause I needed a saw now didn't have time to buy old an rebuild.Crank bearing went out on my ms200T locked up flywheel got hung up on the starter unit.Start stocking up on old parts

If you like the 260 then get the 261 , the 261 has more power than the 260 , its abit more weight than a 260 but alot more torque and to me a better cutting saw , if bigger then go to the 362 as its quite abit more motor
 
What is the torque of the Stihl ehp. A year ago I traded my 260 in for a Dolmar 5105 and still have no regrets that I did. To me it feels as the Dolmar has more torque. A small saw with guts like it's big brother the 7900.
 
I am sure the 261 has more balls than the 5100 , the 261 is a pretty good saw . Just me but I like the 346 better but thats just me but I have been running the new 550 quite abit and I like that saw alot , in stock form I feel it has more torque than the 346 it is replacing now the 550 has a longer stroke so more torque makes sense
 
There are two new Husqvarnas that are clearly tops in their classes, as they surpass the saws they replaced.....the 550 replaces the 346, which was the class of its class...and the 562 appears to be a big improvement over the old 60 cc saws. In fact, many say it is just a tad slower than the 440/372 70 cc saws.


As well, reports are filtering in about the Husky 540T. It is said to be faster than the 200T, which, if true, means there may be a new king of the climb saws. Unless it is worked over by a good builder, the 201T is a laggard.
 
Roger I am porting mine here shortly when I get time , the 50cc 346 that I have been porting seems to be real good , I sure got lots of them out there and have had zero trouble and these are in guys hands that run them everyday . The 550 has more torque stock over the 346 and if they turn out anything like my ported 562 I will be very happy , these 562's are just nasty .

I think alot of people are selling the 261 kind of short, there is nothing wrong with the 261 , its a bit heavy but it makes a good saw

That is a good price on both. I have an MS261 and I don't know anyone who doesn't love it.
 
I did videos of both a stock 550 vs a stock 261 , they are very close in cutting speed then I ported the 261 and it picked up quite abit , I ran the 261 for about 2 gallons of fuel and its a nice saw, Its got a 18 inch 3/8's setup on it , My 550 has close to 30 gallons of fuel threw it now and I like it alot , very nice saw for limbing and getting into tight places , The 562 is abit bigger in size but does have more power
 
I'm lookin' for those vids, EHP. You'd think after listening to a two-stroke whine all day, the last thing to do would be watch them on the computer, but I'll watch that. I've not seen anyone yet do the mild port on the MS261. They are going extreme and taking off the strato system. Even stock,they rev up like a RM 125 and eat anything there is with a 16" bar. It is so wicked like that, it's truly fun. I've used the stock one in everything deciduous in the midwest frozen and with 20" .063 .325 RSC. No problem for it. I'll look back through to see if I missed your link.
 
videos are on my youtube channel, ehpsaws, hope this does not get me in trouble , this 261 is going to be used by a 65 or so year old man and its made to pull hard not scream hard , I like this motor as it seem very strong and last quite well
