new bridge for a butterfly harness

Location

I am sick of the bridge that comes with my butterfly harness anyone have pics of modifications they have done?

No pics but I've replaced mine twice now with a length of New England Saftey Blue with a scaffold hitch on each side. Works great.

I have a piece of Tachyon through the shackles and tied with a fisherman's knot on each end. I kept the original bridge on as well, so I can shorten or lengthen the Tachyon bridge if needed. I usually just leave my ring around both, though.

when i first got y butterfly harness it came with the "short" bridge that had a braided sheath heat spliced from end to end to cut down on abrasion. After the second climb the heat splice popped out and the sheath would get stuck in the ring as it moved across the bridge (what a pain!) so i sent it back and they fixed it but once again after a few days it popped out again. So i switched it with the "long butterfly bridge" which is similar to the bridge for the seqoia and that works fine. When you guys tie a piece of rope in place of the bridge, do you tie it to the clevis or directly to the 4 points on the harness??

This is two Vectran eye-eye bridges covered with the jacket of a kernamantle rock climbing rope. I've been using it almost exactly a year. The two eye-eyes side by side make the bridge almost rectangular in cross section.

Tell me about it!!!that heat splice is junk. I asked if any one else had that problem at sherrill and they said I was the only one. Thanks for the reply!

Matt, I had the exact same problem, and I have talked to others that did also. It's definitely a defect. George (Shelter) replaced mine and sent the barely-used-but-falling-apart one back. Since I added the Tachyon, the new one is not falling apart like the old one, I think because of the reduced stress on the parts. Ultimately, I'd like to have one like Blinky's. That's pretty sweet.
