Need new phone battery case

The battery on my iPhone 7 is usually not large enough to make it through a full day without charging. Not a complaint though.

I've had a couple of battery cases with batteries in them, They armor the phone from some bumping and more than double capacity. The catch is that the female power connector breaks apart. Non-repairable with my skills...and vision even with my jeweler's magnifier.

Time to buy a new one.

Otter Box is a leader in this market and they price accordingly.

Here's what I'd prefer:

---Extra battery built into the case

---Armored to a certain degree. I've owned mobile phones since trading treework for a Motorola Brick decades ago. Only one phone was trashed...a flip phone that died when I giant drop of sweat bombed the keypad and shorted it out. I'm gentle on my tools and make them last.

---Weather 'resistant' is good enough, I don't need the bulk of weather 'proof', built would be nice.

---A strong power connector plug. That's what's failed on too many mobile tools...aux. batteries, cameras, etc.

Any suggestions?

Got the same phone about a year ago and am just starting to notice a little degradation in battery life. You probably know already, but the 7 is supposed to be waterproof at 1 meter depth for 30 minutes.
I don’t take it in the pool, but I’ve gotten caught in some heavy rain and it’s fine.

I’m thinking about getting an aftermarket battery that claims to be better than stock. Around 30-40$ and comes with the right tools to do it.

Iphone batteries (well, phone batteries in general) usually tend to degrade to <50% capacity after 2-3 years. Chances are an Iphone 7 would need a replacement battery at this point, and that's a fairly easy and cheap thing to do.

I wouldn't recommend a battery case. Those usually charge your phone to 100% all the time, which is not only inefficient but also further harms the phones internal battery since lithium ion cells dont like to be kept at 100% charge.
edit: Something didn't sit right with me with this, and I did some more research. I think what I said might not be completely true, a lot of people seem to think that these cases aren't actually harmful. I still wouldn't use one, since one of the first things I learnt when working with Lipo/Liion batteries is that you should not store them fully charged or discharged since that makes them degrade faster.

Those upgraded batteries should theoretically work, I've worked on the Iphone 7 before and it offers some extra space around the OEM battery. I guess you could squezze some extra battery capacity in there, but it's probably a bit risky.

If it were my phone I'd probably get a replacement battery and an external power bank that I can plug in when I need some extra charge.

I got the phone as a used/trade in about four years ago. My brother gave me the battery case. He got it in a box of goodies from a garage sale so its used too. I never had any issues with lowered capacity just not enough power storage. I've read about age related battery degrade but haven't experienced it.

The power connector is the weak point on the various aux battery devices I've used. I really HATE seeing such waste since I can't realistically do a repair. Not like putting a new plug on an extension cord.

Can a test be run on my battery to tell me how much capacity is still available? I know how to do that with my AA and car batteries but not internal batteries.

Apple offers some basic battery health information in the device settings, it should be under battery. This is not 100% reliable, but the only thing you can do quickly. But like I said, if the battery is older than about 3 years it probably needs to be replaced.

I too have dealt with this problem, and used the portable batteries to charge my phone and other devices, but finally upgraded about 6-8 months ago to the iPhone 11. Battery problems solved.

I have not yet had to charge it during the day, not even once. Now if I am using it as a GPS in a truck, I usually keep it plugged in, but not always. So far today I have used it unplugged for about an hour on GPS, and have used it about 4.5 hours “screen on” time, and I am currently at 57% battery.

There is but I cant remember what it is. I believe it's an app that shows %used out of a brand new 100% battery. Iphone6 had a battery issue also and Apple got caught putting substandard batteries in the phones. For a year they replaced them for $25.00 If you didn't do it in the year it was full price. Anyway that app has something to do with the universe. Sun battery, star battery......IDK something like that. You should be able to do a google on it and i'm sure apple forum will come rite up.

I was given a power pack, it comes with an adapter for jumping vehicle batteries! My father in law came to visit the day after my new hire tipped my mini on end, he freaked and shut it down but left it in the aux position. It was so dead there wasn’t even a click. This thing fired it right off, and then he gave it to me.

I get at least half a dozen phone charges from it and it’s smaller than a vhs tape

I have and use the Mophie case. I bought it from Best Buy about a year ago and have dropped and banged it up pretty good.
It has a button for seeing charge level of the case and ability to turn the charging on/off so no worries about constant charging.
I can usually turn it on about 10-20% and charge phone to 100% and shut the charger off. If it gets back down to 20% again it’ll usually bring it up to 40-50%.
